Kai/Kyungsoo, Midnight and Fingertips, PG, 400~ words

It's the middle of the night, and Kyungsoo knows he should be sleeping. They have an early morning tomorrow. Don't they always? He's tired, too, and normally sleep comes pretty easily to him, but tonight it's just eluding him.

There's a little bit of moonlight coming through the window, and it illuminates things just enough for Kyungsoo to see the outlines of things in the dark. The shelves by the door, the lamp, Jongin's silhouette in the bed next to him, breathing slow and deep. He has his back to Kyungsoo, the sheets pushed to his narrow waist, and Kyungsoo knows that he's dead to the world. Jongin always sleeps heavily after schedule. He pushes himself until he just can't go anymore. Kyungsoo never knows whether he finds that admirable or reckless.

He reaches out in the dark, traces delicate fingers from Jongin's hairline, down his spine to the small of his back. Jongin is too ticklish for this during the day, fidgeting under Kyungsoo's hands until he yelps with laughter and catches Kyungsoo's wrists, begging for him to stop. Still, Kyungsoo likes to try. He likes that Jongin lets him, every time. He likes that he can always reach out and press his hands to Jongin, that he knows that Jongin is his, at least a little.

His fingertips continue their passage, up and down Jongin's back, but after a few moments he stirs, turning to face Kyungsoo with a sleepy smile. That always surprises Kyungsoo, the way that Jongin has an unerring sense for when Kyungsoo is awake and thinking too much. “C'mere,” he mumbles, voice slurred with sleep, and he reaches for Kyungsoo, gathering him in his arms.

Kyungsoo goes with it, squirming forward until his face is buried in the crook of Jongin's neck. A part of him knows that this will be pretty hot and uncomfortable in an hour or two but right now, Jongin is settling back to sleep, arms tight around Kyungsoo, one leg pushed between his. Jongin has always had a kind of internal heat like a furnace, and maybe it's a bit silly but the warmth of his skin is starting to lull Kyungsoo to sleep.

Sighing, Jongin noses at the top of Kyungsoo's head and Kyungsoo smiles against his skin. “Go to sleep, hyung,” Jongin says. Kyungsoo can feel Jongin's heartbeat under his hand and he's only too happy to oblige.

Himchan/Yongguk, Late For Class, PG, 530~ words

Himchan is steadfastly ignoring the banging on the bathroom door. It's starting to get irritating, but he's very good at tuning out things he doesn't want to hear. Besides, it's been going on for a couple of minutes now, he's starting to get used to it.

“Kim Himchan.” Yongguk's voice is exasperated. “I'm going to be late for class. This is ridiculous.”

Frowning at his reflection, Himchan tugs a strand of hair into place. It takes a while each morning, but he always manages to achieve that look of flawless, effortless bedhead that he prefers. “No you're not,” he calls back absently. “You have plenty of time.” He knows, because he checked. It takes Yongguk less than ten minutes to get to class and he has more than half an hour.

Apparently, however, boundaries no longer mean anything to Yongguk and he opens the bathroom door anyway. “I still need to shower,” Yongguk says pointedly. There's irritation on his face, and Himchan knows he should feel bad. He's too busy staring at his reflection, though.

“You'll make it,” Himchan tells him, tone firm. “Don't be stupid.”

Behind him, Yongguk strips off his shirt and Himchan takes a second to admire his broad shoulders in the mirror. Yongguk catches him, smirks. “You look fine,” he tells Himchan. He folds a big hand around Himchan's elbow and leans in to kiss him. For all his rush from a moment before, he takes his time, kisses him thoroughly. “Quit wasting time. You'll be late too.”

Himchan grumbles, but he settles for pressing his thumb against the sharp line of Yongguk's hip. Eventually Yongguk turns, tugging off his boxers and climbing into the shower. “This is not a waste of time,” Himchan retaliates, but it's weak and he knows it. He hears the shower turn on and with one final look in the mirror, he slips out to get dressed.

Yongguk is fresh out of the shower when Himchan's ready to leave, and he sticks his head into the bathroom. “I'm meeting Jonguppie after history, so I'll be back a bit late.”

Yongguk towels off his hair briskly and then, carefully avoiding messing up Himchan's makeup or hair, pulls him in close and presses his lips to Himchan's. “Your turn to pick up dinner,” he tells him.

Himchan rolls his eyes, waves a hand. “Fend for yourself!” he retorts, turning to dart out of the bathroom again.

Yongguk catches him by the wrist, pulls him in again and despite himself, Himchan melts a little against him. His shirt is going to be damp but right now, the heat of Yongguk's mouth is totally making up for it. When he pulls away, Yongguk has that smug grin on his broad mouth, the one that says he knows he's won, and Himchan glares at him. “Cheater,” he says darkly.

Tucking his towel around his waist, Yongguk laughs and pushes past him into the hall. “See you tonight,” he tells Himchan, and this smile is more fond indulgence. Despite himself, Himchan smiles back and then heads out the door.

Seunghyun/Jiyong, Ego, PG, 930 words

Japanese has never been Seunghyun's forte. Languages are more of Youngbae's thing, and Seunghyun, as a rule, hasn't ever been much of a good student. He manages to get by with memorizing pat little answers to the usual questions, delivering them with a practised fluidity and a charming smile. The smile, he's always found, is the key. He can stumble over his Japanese as long as he just keeps on smiling.

He didn't have a hand in writing his parts for the Japanese tracks for this reason, but he doesn't mind too much. He understands the reasoning and he trusts Jiyong. He always has.

The problem he's finding is that he's not having trouble memorizing his lines, especially Ego. Something about it just isn't sticking, and if he's honest, it probably has something to do with the last couple of days, locked in the studio with Jiyong. The tension has seeped under his skin, and sometimes lately, just thinking about Jiyong makes it hard for him to focus. Which is an issue, because he needs to have these down in time for them to hit Japan. This whole comeback is crucial, and Seunghyun will be damned if he goes into it half-ass. They're all doing their best, and he plans on holding up his end of things.

Sighing heavily, Seunghyun pushes his hand through his hair and then pulls up a seat at his computer. While he knows enough Japanese to get by, he's honestly not clear on the lyrics he's reading right now. Maybe it'll be easier if he translates it, understands exactly what he's saying and the emotions he should be putting into it.

It takes him a few minutes, but once he's unravelled his own lines, Seunghyun is pretty sure he's an idiot. A blind one, too. He knows Jiyong too well to pretend that maybe he got the pronouns wrong by accident. He painstakingly works through the rest of the song and once he's done, he lets his head hit the keyboard with a bang. Suddenly, the tension in Jiyong's expression, the way he pressed Seunghyun hard for what he thought of the song makes so much more sense.

It's so like Jiyong to do something like this. Of course, once it comes time to record, those 'he's will be 'she's, but that doesn't change the fact of what the song is. It's at once a grand gesture and a private message, Jiyong's way of shouting to the world without anyone knowing the truth. It makes him smile, just a little, but it also makes him scared.

Seunghyun has always played it safe. He can't honestly say that he hasn't felt it, hasn't felt the pull Jiyong has on him, the urge to cross that line between them. The difference between him and Jiyong is, Seunghyun is too aware of how many things could go wrong. Jiyong has always been more reckless than him, more likely to jump into things without looking, and most of the time he's dragged Seunghyun with him.

He can't ignore this. He knows that if he pretends he doesn't understand, Jiyong won't forgive him, not easily. They've known each other too long to fake it, to lie to each other. He has to confront this head on. It's too late for even Jiyong to still be in the studio, so he decides that it can wait until tomorrow. He sleeps poorly at best, nothing new, but at least this time he has a reason for it, and as soon as he wakes up properly, he heads to the studio.

Seunghyun isn't surprised to see Jiyong already there, coffee clutched tight in one hand while he fiddles with the production on a song. He already looks worn down and dissatisfied with what he's doing, but he manages a tight smile when Seunghyun walks in. “Hey - “

“Is it for me?” Seunghyun interrupts gracelessly, holding up his lyrics. “The song?” His voice wavers in a way that surprises him.

Jiyong looks up at him warily. “Well,” he frowns. “Yeah, I mean, that was the point.” Something sinks in, though, and his jaw drops. “Wait, did you just figure that out?” His expression is incredulous.

His mouth tightening in embarrassment, Seunghyun shrugs a shoulder. “Maybe?”

Jiyong snorts, resting his head in his hand. “Jesus,” he says, and he exhales audibly. Seunghyun shifts uncomfortably, still standing near the door, and when Jiyong meets his eyes again, there's something vulnerable in his gaze, something that Seunghyun doesn't see all that often anymore.

“You wrote a song for me,” Seunghyun says unnecessarily.

Jiyong rolls his eyes. “I think we established that.” He glances down again, staring at his coffee.

Seunghyun tries again. “What happens if it doesn't work? We still have to work with each other.” He raises an eyebrow. “Think you could manage that?”

The wary look is back on Jiyong's face. He watches Seunghyun intently. “If it happens, it happens,” he says slowly. “We're adults.”

At that, Seunghyun just smirks. “Debateable.”

“So what is this, then?” Jiyong asks. The corners of his mouth are turning up, almost without his permission. Seunghyun holds out a hand and Jiyong takes it, curling his long fingers into Seunghyun's.

“A start,” Seunghyun suggests. He bends neatly, placing a hesitant hand on the curve of Jiyong's jaw. Jiyong tips his head up and closes the distance between them, stretching to kiss Seunghyun. Jiyong tastes like black coffee and Seunghyun smiles, despite himself.

EXO-K gen, Video Games, PG, 650~ words

Kyungsoo is beginning to think that maybe, just maybe, starting up a game of Mario Kart with Chanyeol was a bad idea.

For one, Chanyeol is wicked good. He's absolutely ruthless and he doesn't even intend to give Kyungsoo a chance. Less than a minute into the game and Chanyeol has left Kyungsoo in the dust. Kyungsoo's hand-eye coordination is terrible and he has somehow managed to already get himself turned around and he can't figure out how to go in the right direction. He glances over at Chanyeol but he's deep in concentration, long body bent nearly in half and staring wide-eyed at the TV screen. No help there.

“You have to at least try,” Jongin tells him, bumping his shoulder against Kyungsoo's knee. Kyungsoo glances down at Jongin, who is sitting on the floor with his back against the couch. Jongin blinks up at him, amused half-smile on his face. “You know, point the controller at the screen, make the little dude go forward.” Beside him, Sehun ducks his head and chuckles

Clumsily, Kyungsoo swats at Jongin's head. “Shut up,” he grumbles. He really is bad with these things.

At this point, Chanyeol has so much of a lead that he can afford to take a second to turn and wrinkle his nose at Kyungsoo. “This isn't even a challenge!” he complains.

It's time for Kyungsoo to resort to desperate measures. He grabs at Chanyeol's arm, tugging his hand off his controller. “Now is it a challenge?” he asks. Chanyeol frowns at him, shakes him off but Kyungsoo is determined. Chanyeol's so good, he should be playing with a handicap. Kyungsoo is just providing that handicap.

Kyungsoo pulls at him again, little hands wrapped firmly around Chanyeol's wrist, his controller tumbling from his knees to the ground as he wrestles with him. As he struggles with Chanyeol, Kyungsoo is vaguely aware that Jongin has rescued his controller and taken over, fixing Kyungsoo's mistakes and rapidly making up for lost time.

When Chanyeol can't both shake Kyungsoo off and race, he lets out a forlorn wail and calls for Baekhyun. Kyungsoo wishes he could be more surprised when small, wiry arms drag him away from Chanyeol and pin him to the couch. He struggles in vain but Baekhyun is surprisingly strong. “This is cheating!” Kyungsoo declares, but his struggles are feeble and he gives up, finally, sitting back to watch Jongin and Chanyeol finish the race. When Baekhyun finally decides that Kyungsoo isn't going to attack again, he jumps over the back of the couch and worms his way in between the two of them.

Jongin ends up successful, having somehow managed to salvage Kyungsoo's pitiful start, and Chanyeol throws his hands up in defeat. “I would have won if Kyungsoo hadn't attacked me,” he tells no one in particular, but no one is really listening. Kyungsoo decides to take the win as his own victory, too, and when he cheers, Jongin and Sehun join him.

They're making such a ruckus that Joonmyun emerges from the kitchen, looking alarmed. Chanyeol immediately clamours for Joonmyun to punish Kyungsoo for being a cheating cheater who cheats, and Baekhyun is quick to back him up. Naturally, Kyungsoo, Jongin and Sehun argue immediately. “But it's just a video game,” Joonmyun says with a long-suffering sigh, and holds up his hands. “I'm not getting involved.”

When he's gone, Chanyeol snatches up the controller again and challenges Jongin for a rematch. He's more than game. Baekhyun glowers at Kyungsoo, holding his hands up menacingly. “Don't even think about it,” he tells him.

The countdown starts and Sehun whoops, shaking Jongin's arm excitedly. “Don't, man,” Jongin nudges him off. “You're gonna mess me up.” Then they're both off, eyes on the screen like it's life or death, and the room erupts in noise again. Kyungsoo grins. He loves these guys.

Himchan/Yongguk, Movie Night, PG, 500~ words

They take the luxury of a late night watching movies because of a day off the next day, and they put on something loud with explosions. Jongup nods off halfway through the first movie and Junhong is blinking sleepily twenty minutes into the second. Himchan takes that as his cue to shuffle them all off to bed, despite Youngjae's and Daehyun's protestations. It's late enough, though, and it takes some convincing but eventually they go.

This leaves just Himchan and Yongguk to sit through the tail end of the movie. Yongguk looks half-asleep but Himchan knows he'll stick it out. Himchan gives him so much shit about the last time he fell asleep that Yongguk stubbornly refuses to give him more ammo.

They finished off their snacks hours ago and the remains litter the floor around the couch. Himchan knows he should clean, it's already bothering him, but he's way too tired. The movie rolls on, volume low, light flickering in the dark room. Himchan glances over at Yongguk, who's watching intently. Time to disrupt that.

Without warning, Himchan sprawls out into Yongguk's lap. It's much more comfortable this way, he decides, settling his head on Yongguk's thigh. Yongguk makes a surprised noise and blinks down at him, dropping a broad hand to Himchan's chest. “So I'm a pillow, now?” he asks, amused.

“One with stupid hair,” Himchan agrees. Yongguk snorts, an easy smile twisting his wide mouth, and digs his fingers into Himchan's chest in retaliation. “Stop talking, I'm trying to pay attention to the movie.”

They fall silent for a few minutes, and Himchan feels the weight of Yongguk's hand on his ribcage. He won't admit that it takes a bit of courage to lay one of his own hands on top of Yongguk's. He doesn't look up at Yongguk, keeps his eyes fixed firmly on the screen.

He's rewarded when Yongguk turns his hand over and laces their fingers together. Himchan's eyes flick up and in the dark of the room he can just barely see the fond look on Yongguk's face. “Idiot,” he says, and Himchan is glad he probably can't see him flush right now.

“I thought I told you to shut up,” Himchan grumbles and Yongguk just laughs, like he always does, low and affectionate.

He doesn't mean to, but he starts nodding off after a while. He's warm and comfortable and the movie is too stupid for him to care about. He resurfaces from sleep when Yongguk slides a hand through his hair. Himchan glances up but Yongguk isn't even thinking about what he's doing. He looks down when he hears Himchan snort. “Go back to sleep,” he says distractedly. “You could use the rest.”

Himchan could argue, but he's pretty comfortable right here. Nice and cozy, and Yongguk's rhythmic strokes through his hair lull him off again. He stretches and sighs, making himself comfortable again and Yongguk squeezes his hand a little. He's smiling when he drifts off again.
